When Jeff graduated from Boston University in 2002, he knew that he wanted his own business, but wasn’t sure which direction to go in. Luckily, he was an avid reader of international franchise magazines, which is where he first heard of the Ovenu cleaning franchise business, which had been causing a real stir over in Europe. Jeff saw an opportunity to bring this idea across to the States and a few months down the line he was the owner of his first business!
The enterprise really kicked off in 2006. After his first advertisement ran in the newspaper, the schedule immediately went to a two-month wait for clients to get an appointment. There was a real demand for what Jeff was offering: creating a clean, healthy experience for customers by removing the harmful carcinogen build up in their grill, removing grease that can cause a fire, and prolonging the life of their grill and, in turn, protecting their investment in their BBQ.
After 3 years of successfully growing the Bergen County operation, he felt that the time was right to start letting other would-be business owners in on the action. The business model had proved itself and Jeff now knew how to build a successful operation completely from the ground up.
In 2009, the BBQ Cleaner helped its first customer start their own grill cleaning business, a decade later there are over 200 grill cleaners across the country who have Jeff to thank for their success.
